These Standard Motor Products replacement crankshaft position sensors are designed to send a signal to the ECM to determine engine rpm, crankshaft position, and engine misfire. They consist of a permanent magnet, yoke, and coil. The Standard Motor Products replacement crankshaft position sensors are mounted close to a tooth gear. As each tooth moves by the sensor, AC voltage pulses are inducted into the coil. Each tooth produces a pulse, as the gear rotates faster, there are more pulses produced.
